Elite Status from one R/T

So I have an upcoming rt JFK-> SYD via AUH on Etihad. It will yield 28,688 miles. This will make me a Silver member after just one r/t. Anyone else every hit elite status after just one r/t?

Yes - I think my wife r/t LAX-ZRH-FCO in F credited to M&M got me to FrequentTraveller (silver).

Probably many an AA flyer has done that with their "challenge". 5,000 points will easily give you Gold status.

When DL offered double EQMs for paid business, I made Silver on one trip from the west coast to Europe, and Gold on the second trip. That was the only flying I did that year (2002). It was about 25500 EQMs per trip.

Most if not all of those (with no elite status) in on the UA NZ deal (myself included :D).

How is that possible, miles earned by one person credited to another? Or did she simply donate/transfer points?
