OK I admit it, I'm a FT holic. I can hardly go a a day without logging on. I do have a good excuse though, I'm retired, I enjoy traveling, FT has furthered my education, broadened my horizons, saved me many dollars and is entertaining. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I tend to look the other way on what my employees (and myself by extension) do at work as long as they are getting their work done and being productive. If you can talk on the phone and surf the net at the same time and still do your work accurately, in appropriate volumes, and on time, more power to you.

That said, I had to terminate someone last Friday... seems like he was not only NOT getting his work done but when we pulled the web logs (for back up so we could have a "clean" termination), he was moderating two websites, had designed a half dozen more on OUR time using our resources, and managed to spend a better part of his day IMing on four different screennames with over 60 individuals.

Call me a micro-manager, but THAT is a bit extreme!

I prefer to FT in the privacy of my home. Who's got time between 9 and 5 (or, adjusted for reality, 7:30-7:30).

What I have learned on FT more than exceeds the value of the time I spend reading. Much more! Anyone who wants to argue with me can fly coach!

Many people assume that I don't know much; so I just let them keep their own opinions. They are in the back of the bus while I am up front most of the time, have miles for vacation travel and get in the First class/ Biz check in line. As my old mother used to say 'so?'

Well, while we're on this topic, I'll confess to also being addicted. But as has been said already, there are worse addictions.

I'm a TA and can usually skate it by the boss as "doing fare research". I've also learned many things on FT AC forum well ahead of any notificated we get from AC. I find the community invaluable to bounce ideas off or gripe about some problem as none of the resort of my family/friends understands/cares.

Realized was addicted during recent trip to Marriott Kauai Resort and was indoors checking FT! Remembered I was in paradise, so logged off and played rest of the week in the surf.

I could not agree more. I could just as easily be reading a magazine/staring at a blank computer screen, etc. My respect goes to managers who measure results, not means.

I've more or less been told that Internet usage is being tracked here. My review is on January 7...we'll see if FT comes up. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Well, my review did not mention my web usage although it IS clearly being tracked. A tidy raise and bonus otherwise, thank you very much http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif.
