Back to an earlier question, was your username something that could jsut as well been this persons username? Maybe he was Kevin and you were KevinB? And what was the password, again, something simple?

On another note, if you called into Hertz in the off hours, the chance of getting someone intelligent drops quickly. Remember, the good people get the day shifts. The night people are usually those with low seniority.

I know, I know... that is a generalization, but generally true. I used to run call centers and know what happens when the good mgrs and supervisors go home.

I'm sorry but I don't see your point. What's the difference if it was kevin or kevinb. The computer only reads 0 and 1's not maybe 0 or maybe 1. This sounds like a major bug.

UPDATE

Just got off the phone with Hertz... They called to say they have been investigating the whole situation - and reading Flyertalk....

They sounded concerned about the whole issue, and have had programmers working on making sure the situation doesn't happen again.

I must say that it was nice to see that Hertz was paying attention.

I'll bet it was your mention of "flyertalk.com" that got their attention!!

They fear informed flyertalk members!

I sent off an email to the person (since I knew what his email was...) telling him what happened, and how his privacy had been violated... I gave him my phone number if he wanted to talk to me to discuss what happened... He hasn't contacted me since... He may be away for all I know... I might give him a call tomorrow to make sure he is aware of what happened...</font>
If you haven't called him yet, I would do so...some folks utilize non-primary email addresses for use w/ various online vendors...the email address he registered w/ Hertz may be one he checks infrequently or otherwise only when/after a specific transaction, etc. has taken place.

I would call him to ensure that he has been informed of what occurred...
