Lifetime / Million Miler
Can anyone tell me how you become a lifetimer or million-miler and what the benefits/restrictions are.
Thnx |
I could only tell you about AA. Any and all miles count towards million status. Actual flying and bonus miles, credit cards, idine, flowers, cruises, Kelloggs, etc...etc.... Once you reach 1 mil, you get Gold lifetime status, which, not suprisingly gives you all the benefits of Gold status. 2 Mil gives you Platinum, and there is NO Executive Platinum lifetime status. You could look up the benefits on www.AA.com.

Most major airline programs are similar, where you have to actually fly a million miles on that airline or its airline partners(maybe a bit less, if you can take advantage of rare promotions that give you additional status miles) to gain MM status. This generally gives you lifetime status at the lowest elite level for that airline. AA is a bit different in that all miles count toward 1MM status. This includes not only elite bonuses, but also other mileage awards that you may be able to get from non-airline partners such as hotels, car rental companies, restaurants, banks and the like. AA is also unique in that it gives you lifetime status at its mid-tier elite level once you reach 2MM status, with the miles coming from any source that allows you to credit miles to your AA account.
The benefits of elite status are too numerous to mention and vary by airline, but include mileage bonuses and upgrades at a minimum. ------------------ StuckWithDelta [This message has been edited by vasantn (edited 11-10-2002).] [This message has been edited by vasantn (edited 11-10-2002).] |

UA - 1 million actual paid miles. Lifetime (your life, or the life of the airline) Premier Executive status (mid-tier).
|
in add, regarding 1Mio miles status with UA Mileage Plus, only (paid) status-miles flown on UA itself (includes UA Express) count - no StarAlliance partner miles.
|
Northwest only counts airline miles, not bonus, hotel, car, etc.
They send you a nice gift and the MillionAir stamp is on your WorldPerks card (regardless of status). However, there is no life-time status. You must earn your status every year. Bob www.InternetTravelTip.com |
I hear you also get a Red Badge of Courage and a Purple Heart http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Just to clairify, for the AA program. Must you have a balance of 1MM miles? Or do they somehow track the number of miles accumulated even if they are spent on something?
Thanks |
yes AA tracks the number of miles accumulated (even if they are spent on something). And so do all other programs that I know.
