Is MileTracker able to verify your miles/points are correct?

I read the info at MileTracker, and it sounds like a great program. Is it actually able to 'make sure' you get your miles/points?

Example: sign up for credit card (16,000 miles on xx airline); buy tickets on their website 2x miles for each $ spent + 500 miles for booking online, 2x miles for each flight. Buy from online partner, get 3x per $ spent.

OK-16,000 miles, spent $500 on tickets online = 1,000 miles + 500 miles, trip is 6,000 round trip = 12,000; bought $100 from online partner= 300 miles.
So - miles posted 'should be' 29,800 miles for this scenario.

But, how do you know you got all your points/miles when they don't post for 6-8 weeks, and not at the same time and you've moved on to other purchases and trips. One program I belong to, won't even verify which bonus programs I am enrolled in/when they expire (long thread on another forum).

Basic question-how do you know you got what you were supposed to get, without keeping track of them yourself too?

I edited this but the old post seems to be stuck. I'd appreciate any input for the new questions.

MileTracker is a great way to know what has been credited to your account - but there is no way to program it to verify that points you anticipate to come in actually do. The only way I know to do that is to set up your own system. I keep track of pending stays and flights, credit card bonuses, promotions, and the like. Then as I receive the credits, I delete them from my summary sheet. If they don't get deleted with a reasonable period of time, I know I need to go chase them. I'm not nearly as detailed as some, but it works for me.

MileTracker is only a program that keeps track of the miles that have posted to your accounts. It does not verify if all the miles that you should receive (or expect to receive) have posted.

Many people keep a spreadsheet with the flights/purchases/bonus/etc... to verify when they are received. I myself do not, but I remember and will notice a large deposit to a certain account.

Recently, I signed up for a HA Visa - with a 10K bonus. Since I did not have any miles with HA previously, it was easy to remember and noticed the 10K deposit. I also signed up for a DL Business AX, with a 15K bonus plus 1K for each employee card. Although I had other DL miles, I noticed when I received only a 5K bonus. A call informed me that the other 10K will post in 6-8 weeks. I also noticed the 3K posting (1K at a time - after each card was first used), and when the 10K posted.

I also print receipts of purchases (at the airline's "malls") and write a note on them (CO - 2/$, UA - 3/$, AGR - 6/$, etc...) - when the miles post, I know. And if they don't, then I know how much I should have received and from whom. I also have the receipt handy.

Thank you both...that's pretty much what I'm doing - a spread sheet for credit card points, one for airlines, hotels, etc. So far, I've only gotten about 50% of points/miles earned in the last 6 weeks; will give them another week, then start email/calls to get the points. I'm really new at this, but I'm a detail person, and if it's 250 miles, by golly I want 'em. Thanks for you input. Happy travels.

Unfortunately, as the other two posters have said, Miletracker does not audit your mileage accounts to make sure you got all the miles that you were supposed to get and it's hard to imagine how any website/program could do this in a way that would be less work than simply having a list/spreadsheet.

I would suggest just keeping a list for each program (on a spreadsheet if you like) with columns for the number of miles you anticipate, the last date you would expect to receive it, and the reason why you are supposed to receive it (i.e. flight activity, bonus, etc.).

Thanks for your input too. Wouldn't that be a 'hot' site...someplace that could track your online buying, thru the portals, miles, points, etc. Totally awesome...but unrealistic without major membership $. And, I wouldn't think of giving all my account #s and passwords for those accounts to anyone...I didn't sign up for Miletracker just for that reason. So, back to spreadsheet 101 and keeping those receipts/email printouts. Thanks all.
