Mileage Plus changes in Oct.?

This may be old news but I just heard
that United may be increasing the mileage awards needed by approx. 30% for domestic and international travel. I really don't want the value of my miles diluted so what is the best course of action?

Buy an award ticket for travel next year now?(ie. on a long haul US - Asia) or is it possible to transfer the points out of Mileage Plus into partner/other program (ie hotel or credit card) and then transfer them back when really needed at some point in the future.

Welcome to FT http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

The only announced changes AFAIK are a 100% increase in miles needed to UPGRADE soon on most It'l routes. This thread is entirely about 'Mileage Plus' which has its own Forum, and a moderator may move it across there for you so you'll get a wider discussion on it there. This "Buzz" forum is for mile news of a very general nature. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I thought the Int'l upgrades were going from 40,000 miles to 60,000 miles. If so, that's a 50% increase.

Did I miss something? Maybe UA changed the 60,000 to 80,000.

If you visit the United forum and search back thirty days, a number of threads cover the issue in great detail.
