just received a direct mail from southwest offering hyatt gold members 1.5 credit/NIGHT first night PLUS 1 credit/NIGHT each additional night for any advertised rate... as it's 16 credits for a RT tic. on southwest, does it seem far more beneficial to take the southwest credits than hyatt points or other airline points?

Sounds like a nice promotion. Most people value 1 Southwest credit at $20. If you already accumulate those credits, this promotion is probably worthwhile. Hyatt point-gatherers at high-end properties may continue to find more value in the points. I usually take FF miles for my rare Hyatt stays because the points will never be worth much to me. Not sure what a loyal Hyatt customer assigns for value-per-point.
