London Underground woes
Actually, I did not run into any woes taking the underground... but I have overheard people complaining about trouble on the trains.
For starters: the two day strike. Lines and stations sporatically shut down or trains were delayed (this for a system that even had trains coming every 3-5 minutes at 11:30pm!) These two very chatty and very silly girls were complaining "Our station was shut and we didn't know where to go so we're stuck on the Heathrow express!" I checked with the desk at the HIlton to see if the Heathrow Express would be affected. I should have known it would not: it's run by BAA. The other big problem that will go on after the strike: The shutdown of escalators at the busy Holborn station. This is a big connection point and already on the weekend they were closing down stairs! Luckily, my experiences on the underground were very enjoyable. Although I wish they would replace those very old trains on the Piccadilly line (they look older than me!) CATMAN |
