How Long Do You Keep Air/Hotel/Car/Misc. FF Records?
In light of a few recent postings regarding GoldPoints removing miles from FF accounts, without notice, due to posting errors, how long to you keep your air, hotel, car, etc. receipts and other backup information? What about FF statements? Do you make hard copies of e-statements?

After every trip I make I run all my invoices, bills, boarding passes and credit card slips through my archive scanner, I then turn them into a PDF with the name and date of the trip, I always have them available online just in case...
|
I usually keep all documentation about a year. Long enough to be prepared for any problems that might develop.
|
I keep all my documentation with the credit card receipts and I keep my receipts with the appropriate credit card statements. I keep my statements indefinitely (on occasion, I've had to look up statements from several years ago).
|
I'll volunteer to be the slacker. I keep them for about 5 min or so (or as long as it takes me to read them).
(I typically check online for posting and get errors resolved immediately) |
As far as ticket receipts and boarding passes, forever.
Credit card receipts, statements (getting fewer now with online bonuses), etc. are kept much shorter. The danger with online statements is that some airlines only keep about 6 months online. Then the record is lost forever. NW is good is keeping a lot of old records online. |

I keep records until the miles post and then I shred them. With flying miles posting immediately and credit card miles posting as soon as a cycle ends, the only records I hold are Dining for Miles, which usually post in a month. Despite the numerous "My Miles Didn't Post" threads, I've never had a problem. I was even able to get my points transferred when I bailed out of the old ClickRewards. |

As I have stated before-- we are wallpapering our rumpus room with said airline gack.
I tend to keep them for a year, but my partner likes to keep them longer. I just make sure that things post correctly. I have given up on some of AS's esteemed partners - QF and BA for some short hops we did. lala |
