I was in Papeete many years ago - and wasn't impressed with it than (Maiva Beach or something like that) However, it is o=not really my choice to stay in Papeete 4 nights - We are getting off a 10 day cruise (with all the luggage) I have no idea how difficult it would be to get to Bora Bora or Moorea or another island with all the luggage just for 4 nights - I'd appreciate any input from you well-travelled folks. Also, I've been looking around the web and the hotel prices seem outrageous - I might have to resort to using my Starwood pts. at the Sheraton, although I hate to use them except for those 25,000 mi. transfers. But with all the taxes they pile on the rooms are running $350++ - and that's for a Standard room - not the on water bungalow! I expect the food will be expensive too - this is all working out to be more expensive than the cruise in a mini-suite! HELP!

--Is Moorea your first or last port of call? If it is the last port, you might consider disembarking there (if the cruiseline permits it). Perhaps you could spend your 4 nts in Moorea..as it is so close to Papeete and less chaotic.
