Which airline allows stopover for award ticket?
Trying to take the kids from SAN to Washington DC and PHL in April. Is there a way that I can use one awrd ticket to visit both cities. I checked United, it says no stop over for award ticket in the same region. Are there other airlines that allow this? I have enough miles on NW, US, and AA. Thanks.

AA allows it, but it would have to be booked over the telephone -- it cannot be booked online.

Since US uses PHL as a hub and DCA as a focus city, you'd probably find the best availability with them for your flight needs. Pre-merger, I know they allowed a free stopover on an award ticket, but I don't know how the rules may have changed with the HP merger.

*A allows stopover for award ticket. But there are also rules depending on the zone. Mostly it is allowed one stopover on the routing forward and one for going back.
