miles for brokerage accounts

I just got a notice from TD Waterhouse that they are raising commission rates again, the third time in as many years. I'm fed up and looking to take my business elsewhere.

If I can get miles for this, so much the better.

I prefer AA miles, DL is second choice.

So far, the best I've found is 25K DL miles from Ameritrade: http://www.ameritrade.com/delta/

Are there any better current offers?

Does anyone have any positive or negative comments on Ameritrade's service?

I've been with Ameritrade for almost 2 years. They have a easy to read interface and pretty good customer service. The only downside is that you don't get the streaming data for free (they have couple of paid options though). Overall, I'm pretty satisfied and the fee is a $8 a trade which is pretty decent.

Hope that helps.

I'll probably move some of my stuff to TD for the miles (penny stocks that I don't trade everyday) as soon as they go up some (I keep dreaming http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif) so I get at least that 10'000 bonus miles.

Ameritrade is okay, just watch that you don't leave too much cash lying around in your account, because they hardly pay anything on it.

Ameritrade is fine and cheap for what it does. But it's offerings are limited. No bonds, no CD's, for example. Also, the only way to get your money out for free is to tell them to send you a check. You get no checking account, and no electronic link to other accounts.

For other mileage offers for brokerage accounts, go to my site below, click on Free Frequent Flyer Miles in the left menu, then on Financial Offers in the top menu.

Anyone have trouble getting the Ameritrade sign-up bonus of UA miles? Opened an account in February, complained once in May, still no answer or miles.

Does TD Waterhouse offer any incentive for adding to an existing account?

I have both ameritrade and etrade accounts. Prefer Ameritrade's site. However, the banking and check writing features of ETrade's is a big plus.

ETrade probably hits you with more fees and charges.

When Waterhouse first hooked up with AA, they gave existing customers 10K miles for adding $10K to their accounts. Don't know if that offer is still there...

I had a little problem getting the United Airlines miles from Ameritrade. Had to call them twice before they were finally credited.

Also they raised their margin interest rates significantly.
