Orbitz "Multiple Carriers" ff miles

I'm just curious - if I buy a ticket on Orbitz that uses multiple carriers (like NW and UAL), can I get ff miles from the appropriate carriers for the different segments? How do I do this?

Yes. Just send in your boarding pass stubs to the appropriate carriers and request miles.

Or, at the gate for each segment just give them your FF card and they'll put it in the system...

But wouldn't that make a hash of your PNR as agent after agent accessed it to make changes?

Safer to send in the BP's, IMHO. You'll still get the miles.

Orbitz allows you to give them multipole airlines FF numbers, after you log in it's under my stuff. If you do that then you will get the miles automaticailly.

If for some reason you don't want to do that I would call the airlines ahead of time and ask to have them enter your FF number, anything you can do before you get to the counter is better then taking up time there, especially if you are in front of me.

Sorry to drag up an old thread.

My daughter has a six segment flight on 4 carriers, UA, US, CO & DL.
I told her to call Orbitz and put down her UA number for the first 3 and the DL number for DL. The agent told her it was Continental ticket so she could use her UA number for all the flights. That doesn't sound right to me. Does
anyone have any recent experience entering numbers with Orbitz tickets by phone, online or at the gate?

If you haven't heard, CO and UA are in a merger. You can already transfer miles between UA and CO. They will fully merge their program by 2012.

It usually makes sense to consolidate miles, rather than have bits of miles in the various mileage accounts. The agent was doing your daughter a favor by putting down her UA number for UA, US, and CO segments.

Yes, but I don't think this will work for the Delta segments.

My apology. I misread what you told you daughter to do as what the agent did.

The agent is most likely mistaken and DL flights cannot be credited to UA account. I would just suggest calling back, or if possible, see if you can retrieve the reservation from delta.com and add the DL number in yourself.
