Advice on Using UAL or DL miles for Delta Flight
 

I've got a lot of UAL miles 400K, and only about 70K on DL. I need to use 40K for a 1st class Delta flight, and actually have reservations held for each one.

For United, I need to go to office and get a paper ticket. Must ticket by July 2, Delta I must ticket by tomorrow, or face a fee.

Just thought I'd see what FTers think - better to maintain large balance in UAL; or dump UALs in case they go under; does it make no difference? I can easily get to a ticket office, so that isn't too much of a concern.

I would just fly whichever is more convenient for you. I think UAL will come out of this somehow, and the FF miles will still be there.

If the trip to the United ticket office isn't too much of a problem, I'd probably go that route. I also think UA will somehow pull out of this latest spiral, but my reasoning is that by burning a few United miles, you keep your options open for a future time when using Delta miles to fly Delta or one of its partners is your only option for where you need to go.
