1000 miles for car rental
Virgin Atlantic offers 1000 miles for a car rental with Hertz, Avis, & Budget. This sure beats the 50 miles most other airlines are offering.
|
British Airways is repeating their 500 miles per rental this year.
|
US Airways has a pretty good 500-mile deal for booking with partners online - and you are right, sure beats the 50 miles per day thing.
|
Are these mileage offers in conjunction with a flight? Or can I just specify that I would like to receive Virgin/BA/USAirways miles whenever I rent with Budget and then I will receive 500 miles into those carriers FF programs?
I don't participate in any of those FF programs, but if I can start racking up 500 miles per rental (and I do about 75+ 1 day rentals with Budget per year), it sure beats those measly Budget Fastbreak points. Thanks. |
I think the BA 500-per-rental deal is with Avis only, their preferred partner. But, no, it need not be in conjunction with a flight.

I got 1000 VS miles with Hertz at Houston (IAH). Haven't tried Avis.

Can't beat 1000 miles but then again don't want to start a new frequent flyer program from zero. Here are the best airlines for miles I have seen:
Car rental company, airline and miles/points Avis- BA 500, AF 400, KL 300 Hertz- BA 500, AF 400 Thrifty- NW/US 250, (US has 3x promo until 4/30) National- US 250 Budget- AF 400 Worst: Hertz, 1 mile per dollar followed by Alamo's 50 miles per day. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif Maybe better offers for UA or other FF programs, but this is just my 2 miles worth. ------------------ "Fly me to the moon and let me earn alot of miles." |
Thanks for the info on BA and Hertz. At one point they used to give 50 miles per day, but now they have changed it to 250/500 miles. However now they need a boarding pass or ticket receipt from BA or partner airline (as mentioned on Hertz site - I could not find anything about Hertz on the BA site).
Also with BA-Avis you can earn bonus miles in addition to the 500 miles per rental. For 2002: 500 bonus Miles on your second rental 1,000 bonus Miles on your fourth rental 1,500 bonus Miles on your sixth rental With this promotion, you can earn up to 6,000 Executive Club bonus Miles when you rent from Avis this year. Great list worldbanker!
I'd have one option I'd like to add: According to: http://www.radisson.com/RAD/Gold_Rew...0=&P1=earn#car "Earn 750 Gold Points per base rental transaction at all U.S. and Canadian Thrifty Car Rental locations. Earn 2,500 bonus Gold Points for every 3rd rental plus the 750 base points. " Since 4 GoldPoints are worth 1 airline mile, you earn 187.5 miles on nearly any airline per one car rental, and 812.5 miles on nearly any airline on each third rental. Keep in mind that you must redeem GoldPoints at a minimum of 2K at a time. And, please, for the love of god, let's *not* start another GoldPoints debate. It's just another option. |
Lufthansa Miles&More offers 500 miles per rental with Hertz, Avis, Sixt and Europcar. If you're a LH member, that's quite good (no way to transfer these miles to a different FFP, though). With regard to actually posting the miles, Hertz was by far the most reliable and fastest, followed by Europcar, Avis (who tend to "forget") and Sixt (who "forget" even more).
|
Delta also has a 3X mileage promotion with Hertz until 4/30.

Mizu: Does LH still give miles on car rentals? There is nothing on their website anymore, and it was mentioned in the LH forum before that LH was going to stop giving miles for car rentals.

Reisevergnügen: Yeah, there have been rumours, but it is still on their website: here

KLM also gives 500 points per rental for the main rental companies (except Budget). They also had a double points promo for Hertz recently. (Points are not "miles" so for perspective a Y RTN AMS-IAD costs 36,000 points at the moment) - Dambus |
