Points for crewmembers
Hi folks!
Can crewmembers get points when they stay at their hotels for layover? I guess the airlines pay special rates which are so low that they don't apply for any points but do the stays count to elite status? Thanks! |
Sometimes.
Your not supposed to, except for incidentals that you pay for yourself. By doing so, often a stay/night credit is generated. Very seldom, do you get the full points for the stay, but mistakes happen.... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Marc |
Another question along these lines: is it possible for crewmembers to get miles? I realize this doesn't happen on non-rev, space available trips, but can't they BUY tickets at deeply discounted rates? I remember hearing about UA staff that were Premier Executives, etc...

Same thing. Rules say no, but it happens. The same way that miles can be earned for a reward ticket. Once a FF# is on, often points are credited. The trick is getting it on and NOT getting caught as a few 1000 miles are not worth a job.
Also, with free (or near free) travel anyway, hotel benefits are much more valuable, and less likely to get fired from a internal audit [This message has been edited by mtacchi (edited 06-08-2002).] |

So I guess the answer to your question is no. |
My crew member wife has never got credit for stays, but she does get points for money spent on incidentals. She has sometimes discretely gotten upgrades.
