How long until inside flyer points post to SPG?

I bought my magazines last week, the very friendly agent told me my SPG points would post by Tuesday (yesterday). My SPG account still shows no additional points.... how long does this usually take?

bseller May 1, 2002 2:03 pm

I am in the same boat...but am going to assume that there was likely a ton of SPG points to post as a result of Randy's offer and that's what's taking so long. OTOH, I was told that it could take as long as 4-6 weeks (for conservatism's sake)...so I suppose that if you get it done within 2-3 weeks you're on the good end of the stick. Good luck!!

wharvey May 1, 2002 2:45 pm

I ordered three weeks ago... and the points posted in six days.

My 10,000 SPG Starwood points posted in 4 days.

V60t May 1, 2002 3:15 pm

Ordered on the 26th.
Nothing yet!

The girls at inside flyer said they were sent to starwood, but its up to them to post them! Give it time, they must be extremely backed up.

RTW4 May 1, 2002 8:12 pm

Talked to Michelle at Inside Flyer this AM. My points also were suppose to be posted by now. She told me that their SERVER was down!! She did not know when it would be back up. They are incapable of any e mails now. I was a bit suprised and will keep on checking on the SPG board to see when the miles post

JonNYC May 1, 2002 8:28 pm

I've ordered in several batches and each batch of points has taken a minimum of 10-14 days to post to SPG. BTW, the time for the points to get from SPG to AA was quite a bit longer.

But certainly no "GoldPoints-style" complaints about this promotion on my end. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Doppy May 1, 2002 10:18 pm

Mine posted within a week.

My first order posted in two weeks. For the second order, its almost 18 days and it has not posted yet/

phatteus May 2, 2002 8:31 pm

I ordered 3/26 and no post yet. Beat that.

roland flyer May 2, 2002 9:27 pm

My situation is more complex. I placed
two orders in rapid succession, which posted
with 10 days. After reading further of the
uses of the miles I placed another one (now 3).

Then, I found other ways to use additional miles and then really stepped it up to 22 (not normally a large transaction for me, but I forgot-didn't remember-the large aquisition of equipment for the business was about to post on the same card.

Let me say this...AMEX is wierd, which only compicated things for me. (those who have a biz AMEX and unusually large expeditures in any given month, multiplied by $1300 or so of mail order/internet subscriptions can profess.)All within the same billing cycle.

So, I called AMEX back and got a nice CSR
in Future Spending (embarassing) Department,
who said the charge was referred (not declined)and no real reason for this was available.

But, the CSR did say that a charge like this, and it's
subsequent "referral",considering my prior monthly purchases, was not uncommon.

Coupled with the fact that IF's mail servers were down. I can only say, it may take a while to figure all of this out.

So, 25 x 2500 = 62,500 + 15,000= 72,500
or in Quantas miles =ya da ya da....
I am too tired, take from here boys (and girls!)

Gaucho100K May 4, 2002 9:10 am

Let's hope everything works out!

RTW4 May 6, 2002 8:15 am

Mine finally posted on 5/3/02 at 1 Pm Pacific time. Thanks Starwood and Randy

Gaucho100K May 6, 2002 4:18 pm

Checked again today, I still have nothing. Does someone have the Inside Flyer no. handy, I want to call them... thanks.

Randy Petersen May 6, 2002 6:31 pm

If I'm not mistaken, it was posted on the ordering Web site that it would take 6-8 weeks for points to be properly posted. While it seeems that InsideFlyer has done a remarkable job in cutting that down to a few short weeks if not days - I would doubt it fair to make a big deal about this unless it was outside of the posted notice of 6-8 weeks posting time.

Just one person's thoughts on this.

Gaucho100K May 7, 2002 5:40 pm

I called then today and they told me that they are telling everybody its 6-8 weeks posting time but that they are doing their best to do this sooner.

By the way, Im not sure that anybody on this thread was throwing a fit about how long it takes... I just think this thread just shows that we all suffer from premature point posting anxiety syndrome... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Setjet May 7, 2002 6:14 pm

It would increase my patince a lot if I would understand the process of "posting miles".

OK, my credit card was charged, at least this worked in a couple of days.
I am just wondering why posting miles should take weeks and not just a phonecall, a fax or even an email from "Inside Flyer" to "Starwood". Just a matter of minutes/days in my opinion.

Still, I am trying to be patient...

kanebear May 8, 2002 7:26 am

Guys, remember that what you're buying here are subscriptions to InsideFlyer magazines and the *points are just a BONUS. Nevermind that you may not need the 352 subscriptions that you just ordered, the charges post immediately to the credit card because you immediately start your subscription period.

Jakester May 8, 2002 7:49 am

My second batch posted today---8 days after purchase. The opposite end of the scale from Goldpoints.

BTW, I just today (May 8) got an email newsletter from Radisson telling me of the 8-1 ratio starting May 2. Timely. Thanks to the fine folks on Flyertalk, that news came out before May 1 and I was able to deplete account.

Setjet May 8, 2002 10:03 am

Yes! Eight days after ordering the miles have posted!

Thanks a lot! Great service.

GUWonder May 8, 2002 10:50 am

Mine posted today... it took 7 days... unreally great service

Points posted today!!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

UA_Eagle May 8, 2002 5:50 pm

Mine were posted on May 2nd, about a week after I placed my order for 8 subs. However I haven't heard from them yet about where to send some of the magazines to. I did call them last week and they said their email was still down. Has anyone heard from them yet about sending the extra subs?

Setjet May 8, 2002 7:27 pm

No the next question is:

How long does it take to transfer the points to an airline account? Is that up to the airline or is it in Starwood's hands?

MileTex May 8, 2002 8:35 pm

My transfer to Qantas took about 15 days. I made one transfer a couple of weeks and that has posted. Just waiting to complete 40 more.

Setjet May 8, 2002 9:00 pm

40? Forty? Are you talking about forty more points to transfer ;-) or are you really talking about forty more transfers?
800,000 miles???

satish_ny May 8, 2002 9:17 pm

That is 40 * 50,000 = 2,000,000 miles!!!

Setjet May 8, 2002 10:09 pm

You're right. Double mileage plus bonus...
Unbelievable!
How many subscriptions is that???
