Yes. I do this with co.com all the time.

I do this all the time with Best Buy (via the AA eShopping link), so I don't see why Circuit City should be any different.

Yes - I've done this before and actually did it today - don't forget that if you pay with MC you'll get 4 miles / $ right now.

Just beware though.

I've purchased and picked up with Circuit City before and got my miles credited.

However beware, I've tried the same with CompUSA. (right next to my local Circuit City) and I never got credited. I shopped online at CompUSA twice and had to contact AAdvantage eShopping to get my credit both times. Later on, I asked the CompUSA clerk and he said that he thought the online order isn't charged, but held online for purchase in the store.:td:

I always choose "store pickup" at Circuit City, Comp USA, Office Depot and Best Buy, and have always received FFP. I find it much more convenient then Staples, Office Max, etc... where you have to purchase ___ $ to get "free shipping" and then wait ___ days for delivery. (It helps if you're going by the store anyway!:D )

With compUSA you don't pay for the order online so of course you don't get miles. You simply request that the order be put on hold, like the above poster said. You must pay for your order online to get miles; it only makes sense.

I think the terms say in-store pickup is fine as long as complete the entire payment online.

as well..
towards the AAdvantage online shopping promo. will this count towards the get up to 1500 bonus mile?

I found out the hard way that "request" is the key word. After placing an online "order" for in store pickup at CompUSA, I arrived the next day and brought my confirmation e-mail to the service desk. I waited in queue for about 15 minutes (behind returns, exchanges, and repair orders) before I got to the desk. When I did, the clerk told me what aisle I could find my product in, and instructed me to bring it back to the service desk to check out once I had found it. When I couldn't find the product, I asked for assistance from another clerk who told me, "That item is out of stock."

I asked to speak with the manager, who took advantage of some lousy wording on the CompUSA web site to defend himself. For example, it states that "15 minutes is the standard pick-up time" - his interpretation was that items not picked up within 15 minutes might very well not be available. The site also states that "Product will be re-shelved within 72 hours." While I jumped to the conclusion that this meant I had 3 days to pick the product up, he (correctly) pointed out that it doesn't say the product will be held until after 3 days, just that his store will re-shelve the product at some point within that time period... and clearly, 15 minutes is within 72 hours.

Overall, an unpleasant experience. Also, off-topic... so at the very least, I'll mention that I never have a problem with Circuit City in-store pickup, the product and the miles have both always ended up where they were supposed to be!

In-store pickup also works at Sears. This can get you a substantial number of points if you're buying an appliance.

And don't forget to price match!

Be careful of this! If you price match, often the person doing the price match has to resubmit your order. Its basically like a brand new order and you won't get credit. This has happened to me a couple of times

I'd just make sure that you confirm that your initial order (and confirmation number) are the "same"

good advice but in the end, if you keep all info, paperwork, etc, you could always write to aa mall and tell them that this is the stores problem not yours. And for that, your intent was to do it online and if the clerk changed it, why should you lose out?

When I try to do pick up in store I just go by the conf number my purchase online gave me and I call CS right away if theres anything to suspect. In some cases, theres a short window of say 30 mins to change or add comments to an order. I know Shutterfly.com does this and BTW that gives you up to 5 miles /$ spent with AA mall!!!

Some stores like toys R us do not, but you can always try.
