New To This Any Suggestions
Does anybody have any suggestions to what credit card offers the best mileage programs. I have been told I should be paying for everything with one of these cards to help pay for all the travel I do. Most of the travel I do is in the US. However I do travel to Mexico about once a year
any suggestions would be great....I usually fly air tran or northwest..... however I would be open to any ideas thanks in advance |
It's a little hard to offer suggestions on such a general topic, but here's some places to start:
If you haven't already done so, read the stickies on the top of this page - there's a ton of advice there. The topic of credit cards has also been discussed before, so searching for "credit card" should bring up a lot of useful results. In addition to the resources here, also check out http://www.freefrequentflyermiles.com/index.htm .There's a section dedicated to credit cards, and will give you the basics on the different types of cards. Without knowing how much you fly and what your goals are (elite status, upgrades) it's hard to give specifics (especially since I don't fly either of your airlines). However, I would say that you should probably concentrate your mileage earning on NW rather than FL. NW miles will give you the advantage of skyteam redemption, and they have a much larger route network. Besides, FL tickets tend to be rather inexpensive, and in general you don't want to burn miles on a ticket that could be purchased cheaply. Hope that helps get you started |
I would start with a little browsing around this board (milesbuzz) as it pertains to general mileage related programs.
Then perhaps you would want to take a look at the NWA and ATA boards since those are your preferred airlines. Also keep in mind hotel chains, if you have preferences, as there are many good programs that pertain to those (hint, the Starwood SPG Amex is a big fave around here as *wood points are a pretty good value and they transfer to many airlines with bonuses) Once you have read-up a little (and try out the search function as well) I think you will find that most times, all the info you seek is already posted somewhere on the board. You would be hard pressed to find people better versed in all things travel related, not to mention firendly ahd helpful, than the good folks here @ Flyertalk. Oh Yeah, Welcome to Flyertalk!! |
