Chase Manhattan Rewards Card
Hi,
This card is great for accumulating miles because you get 5 points per dollar spent in grocery stores, drug stores, and gas stations, and one point per dollar for all other purchases. In less than five months I've earned enough for a domestic flight. (This is not Chase Manhattan's card tied to Continental Air Lines, although in addition to its any-airline awards it lets you earn certificates for travel on Continental for fewer points. I think it's a fairly new card.) The other side of the story, which I've yet to learn about, is redeeming the miles. Has anyone on this forum who has the card tried getting a ticket with miles earned? If so, I'd be very interested in hearing about your experience. Thanks, Harriett |
Which rewards card is this? Chase has several. Is it the Chase Rewards Plus card or another one?

Welcome to FT.
This sounds like one of the Chase Cash Rewards Plus or Chase Cash Plus Rewards or whatever they're calling 'em these days. One version is available here: http://www.firstusa.com/cgi-bin/webc...A&msc=Z0018955 There was a version of this card available for a while where the points could be exchanged for miles in a couple of FF programs (UA, CO and BA, I believe). But I don't think they offer that card any more. I think they only have the 5% cash back card, which is arguably a more valuable benefit anyway. |
Not available to new customers
Yes, I just got off the phone with Chase customer service trying to apply for either the :
1)Chase Rewards Plus, or 2)Chase Ultimate Rewards Both programs, sadly, have been discontinued for new customers. The first offered cash or miles, and the second offered 5% and 2% cash back. If anyone sees these programs offered again, please let us know. |
Hello all, I am new to this board as well as flyer miles in general. I too have a chase rewards miles card. It is supposed to be good on any airline. I have had it for about six months now and had a few questions.
1. how do I redeem these miles 2. how many miles does it take to get tickets(is there a formula) 3. is this card good for someone who only flies every other year at most(from Memphis to Miami for cruises) I appreciate the help. |
The amount of "miles" required for a domestic ticket is 25,000 (which you wouold receive after $25,000 in purchases), which will buy you a ticket valued at up to $400. To redeem you need to call the customer service number on the back of your card at least 14 days prior to travel. Since the points earned on this card aren't combinable with frequient flyer miles it doesn't matter how much (or how little) you fly--all you need to do is accumulate 25,000 points and you have a free domenstic roundtrip ticket (plus tax and redemption fee).
