In my position.....
I love collecting frequent flyer miles; however, I do not have much use for the hotel rewards:( My wife works for Fairfield resorts and gets discounts on all cendant properties and believe me they are pretty well covered and the discounts make the rates extremely low. To date, I have been using Starwood Amex until the July promo of using amex skymiles gold of double miles. Also, use citi diamond rewards card often to get triple points on gas, drugstore, and groceries. Should I just stick to using these cards or are there some that are better ratio to rewards for just flying, not travel. And yes, I have seen the master thread "What credit card should I use", studied it, etc.
Thanks, jpkneifl |
The fact that the Starwood AmEx happens to be branded for a hotel chain is irrelevant. Across the board, considering low fee, airline flexibility and the bonus if you transfer 20K Starpoints at a time, it's the best way to earn airline miles out there. Its only drawback is that some places don't take AmEx cards, so you need Visa/MC (can be Diners) as backup.
I see no reason to change unless you want to redeem your points mostly for discount economy award flights and you charge a lot. In that case, one of the cards that has its own award program might make sense. |
