Delta/Northwest to British Airways program

My wife with Northwest and myself with Delta would like to transfer our miles to BA. BA will not accept directly. Does anyone know of a way to transfer via the "back door"?

Thank you, I've checked this out however neither Northwest or Delta show a conversion to BA, so I guess it doesnt exist.

I'm sorry to say but I don't think you would be able to transfer your NW miles to BA. Since I have excess miles sitting in Worldperks, I tried doing this recently and eventually gave up. So now it's either build miles on BA or fly a bit more NW and try and use them.

I don't know if you could transfer Delta miles into Diners Club; then, you might convert Diners into BA miles. I know you can do it from AAdvantage into BA via Diners.

With Best Wishes,
Krishna

Really? I guess you're saying this applies to the new Diner's Club Mastercard, or did you do it in the old program?

The question in my mind is if Delta allows to transfer miles into any other program from where the miles could be converted to something else. I have searched, but have not been able to find that Delta allows this.

AFAIK, NW miles can't be converted to anything but flights. No transfers allowed.

As usual, I'm eager to be proved wrong.

As far as I'm aware, there is still no way to convert DL (or NW) miles out of the program by any means.

You can "convert" SkyMiles into magazine subscriptions, or airline tickets on Delta -or-
Aeromexico
Air France
Alaska Airlines
Alitalia
Avianca
Continental Airlines
CSA Czech Airlines
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines
Korean Air
Northwest Airlines
Air Jamaica
China Airlines
China Southern
El Al Israel Airlines
Emirates
Singapore Airlines
South African Airways

and that's about it, AFAIK

I just got off the phone with our "friends" at NWA. I'm about done with these people. They wonder why they're bankrupt. Cannot transfer delta or nw miles out. Once miles are in, they're in. Try to book a flight to Europe, business or first or combo. The charts say 100,000 miles is what we need each. "Oh we're sorry, there are no award seats available +/- four days of the dates we have off from work!

Anybody know a good travel agent that can help out for a fee of course. I'm out of options except getting magazines, like I really need more of those...

Thank you

Haven't used it myself, but I've seen some positive comments from others about it.

I did it from AA into the old DC; However, you can transfer between AA and DC-MC system. I have just transfered (in June 06) 10K miles from DC to AA.

But can you transfer from AA to Diners Club in new MC system? It is easy to get miles into an airline program, but all but impossible to get them out other than through use.

WIth most other programs, yes.

But AA is the big exception. It has all sorts of choices for converting OUT of AA into other programs (including still DC-MC) or other awards (than airline flights). Look:
