The screeners who were suddenly forced to do some work after years of sleeping on their jobs are taking the revenge on the helpless passengers and the only 'satisfaction' an $8/hr screener can draw is by intimidating the victim! Hope they scrap the stupid missile defence system that does/will not work and spend 25% of THAT money on improving the security where it matters.

Pardon me, please direct me to a post where YOU were helpful to anybody on these boards.

therein lies the problem. we shouldn't want to "FEEL" safe. we should want to "BE" safe. the government is currently addressing those who want to "FEEL" safe. thats why those of us who travel frequently are seeing thru the smoke and mirrors. the clampetts currently feel safe, and are perfectly willing to sacrifice liberties in order to feel safe. thats why i'm flying less and driving more!

While at the ATl airport yesterday, I saw a young woman with a very large bag pulled out of the ticket line. The guy took EVERYTHING out and held it up for inspection. I spend less time shopping for shoes than he did looking at hers. We checked my brother in and he was through security while this guy was still looking. The passenger was in tears. I don't feel safer, just more hassled. If poboy had taken names would they have refused to let him board?

Today I was patted down for the first time by a young attractive woman. It happened at RDU C concourse (AA). I also had my shoes checked for the first time (my first flight since the Reid incident) and got my bag wiped again for the umpteenth time. There seems to be a lot more screeners than before. I guess it's because the feds are going to pay them about $35K, a big increase from what the $8/hr they're making now. Now they can jeer those that got that HS diploma. Anyway, I think instead of sitting around in the airline club, I'll pull up a chair and watch the screening. Much more entertaining based on this thread.

You may be on to something here.

What if 3 or 4 people sat opposite the screeners with score cards and held them up after every screen.

What if you took out your video camera and taped a few random searches. Do this on the buddy system.
You get pulled your buddy tapes the screen. My guess is a lot of this nonsense would stop.

What we need is a 20/20 hidden camera report.

IMHO most Security guards are just people who couldn't get real cop jobs or college kids who are just looking to make some cash. i'm sure there are a million exceptions but thats my gen'l overall perspective, When I was an undergrad, myself and four or five friends all did security at the same firm and I'll tell ya, just based on that, I would never want to have to count on these firms to protect me from terrorists..
