Novis looking for upgrades

I'm looking for avenues to upgrade 5 one-way coach fare tix on AA. AA says 15,000 miles needed each. I need 2 more sets (30,000 total). It's a family trip in June and want to reticket at the upgrade if possible, to lock-in. I obviously don't fly all that much and have used up all ideas such as signing up for new credit cards etc. Suggestions?? thanks.

Anybody? ideas/suggestions? from "don't upgrade your kids, cause you'll spoil them" to... "I've got 2 upgrades you can have because of a use-it or lose-it situation"
Ha-.

Maybe someone will just send you a check for $300-$450?

I don't know about you, but I had a bean and rice burrito for lunch today.

Dang, it was good. Still thinking 'bout it.

Buy the upgrades on Ebay.

Unlike some airlines, American does not require you to have the miles in hand to secure the upgraded space. You will need it by the time you fly.

If you really want to upgrade, secure your party in the upgrade class and then work on getting the miles---going on mileage runs, buying magazines or eating a boatload of cearl, take your pick.

Not appreciated. Your self amusment must have entertained your friend(s) throughout your life.
I would appreciate any input on successful means of obtaining my upgrades. Perhaps another idea which would add points fast (along the lines of the credit card sign-up) or a forum for purchasing them.
I love to pursue the little things in life that mean so much to others.
Thank you.

Thank you skofarrell & Tango, much apprecitated. E-bay is an excellent idea, and i'll look into Tango's ideas as well.
(My previous mesage was obviously ment for etops01 & jonnyc.)

Well, Tango's suggestions were good ones. We don't "purchase" miles here-- well, not directly anyway. Try a mileage run (or 5.) You'll like it.

If not, it's gonna' be Infinite Airways miles for you.

Duh.. the ebay reference was a joke as well. You can not sell them.

Typical plane has 100+ coach seats and 20 first. EVERYONE wants the first class seats. Full fare passengers and 100,000 mils a year fliers have trouble getting them.

Good luck.

Do a search on this topic. There was quite a heated discussion about it a year or so back. People were very opinionated and a few were very nasty (IMHO).

I think it depends on your kids, their age, their attitude about this and their manners.

This is not a "Buzz"-worthy posting. I will move it to the most(?) appropriate place, which is "Coupon Connection".
