Going on a tour, can I get the miles for the flights?
 

I booked a tour with a travel agency for September, flights included. The flights will be with Lufthansa and I have the Tap Victoria membership which is a Star Alliance member.

My question is, can I get the miles for the flights, going on a tour? If I present my card at check in will I be credited the miles?
That's a thing I don't know and as I am also planning a trip to Asia in November , I have to decide if I make it on my own ( getting the miles for flights ) or if I book a tour .

Likely not.

Tours that quote air separately will usually let you arrange your own for miles or dollars or use theirs. Those that only quote with air included usually will not let you use miles to purchase or upgrade air.

Usually does not mean never. Some might so call your tour operator.

It is possible that you will get miles. It depends on the type of fare that the tour company purchased. You'll want to make sure that your frequent flyer number is entered into your record and I would do this before you fly.

The tour operator selects the carrier and sometimes changes it on you more than once. If it is on an airline where you are registered as a frequent flyer the answer is MAYBE. Not too helpful I know. I did a cruise a few years ago and used arranged air (Delta) and got points, but some airlines do not give points on bulk ticket purchases so if that is how your tour company buys, maybe not. Best check with your tour operator and airline.
