I'm new :)
I've seen many of you come up with increadible prices for mileage runs. My question is how do you find those. I'm closest to ELM.
Is there a site that gives great fares out of specific airports? Thanks, Zoom |
Welcome to FT!
If you lived in AUStin, you might check this every day: http://www.air-fare.com/aus.htm And no matter where you live, here are a couple of good ones to watch: http://www.digitalcity.com/austin/tr...dp?option=very http://www.moonlightlabs.com/farebro...rebrowser.html Good luck! ------------------ Middle_Seat |
Welcome aboard! Being a travel nut is a great hobby, but you have to put in some time on the boards to really get the hang of it. Stick around, read the boards daily and you'll be a pro before you know it. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Azoomee: with a user name like yours I've got to ask - are you a AFA grad, and if so what year?

Anyone else have a good place to get cheap flights / good deals for mile runs?
|
Azoomee: I'm not a AFA grad, but have worked with ALOT of them in the past 18 years - interestingly enough a few wear the big class rings but many are very reluctant to admit it's their alma mater (sp?). Hercs and 135's

As to other places to locate cheap flights for mileage runs...in addition to those listed above, the Dream Map feature of a couple sites allows you to spot check several city pairs quickly. You can't rely on the prices shown though, especially if you are wanting to know as soon as they are posted, like the drop this morning for WAS-LON. There's a few more threads on this topic in Mileage Run.

Warrenlm: Nothing really negative intended by my remark. My experience has been that non-AFA guys often give Academy grads good-natured grief about going to the "Zoo" and for putting up with 4 years worth of cr*p in what's very close to being an all-boys school when one can earn a commission by going the ROTC route in a "normal" college or by going to OTS and getting a commission in only 90 days.
That being said, if that young man really wants to fly I'd definitely steer him to the USAF - not because I'm saying that the AFA is better than Annapolis as they both have outstanding reputations or that USAF aviation is necessisarily better than that of the Navy - but because the USAF has a reputation of treating their people MUCH better than the other services (and because he will have a 0% chance of ever spending even a single minute on a boat). Ask any servicemember which branch of the service treats their people best and I'm very confident they will tell you Air Force... |
