Getting to N gates in SEA
Is there a way for me to get to the N gates in seattle by going through the C&D gate security area?
I am Platinum with AA and I can get into the priority lane in that entrance, but I am flying UA and know that the lines are going to be extremely busy for my flight on 12/27 I am FAIRLY sure that I have connected from the N gates to the C gates without leaving security before, but I am not 100% certain. If someone could advise as to whether or not this is possible it would be of great help! |
You surely can. Just turn right as you exit security and walk forward until you see UA security on the right. Yuu then go down the very short flight of stairs just past UA security, and then down two escalators before boarding the train out to the "N" gates.
Now whether or not the UA ticket will be a problem, I do not know. We have doen it several times, but the rules change often. |
I NEVER fly AA any more, gladly my status lasts until 2/03. I fly AS a lot, as well as UA and I have used the AA card to get to the C gates for AS many times without a hitch.

The trains only run to N now. Some of the security gates serve both United N gates and Alaska A gates, and it is possible to get from the Alaska A gates to the C gates inside security. I have never tried to get from C to N this way, but suspect that you might be stopped if you tried to back track from A gates to A security. I know I was stopped when I tried to get back to N security to recover some keys left at security. Bruce |
I remember walking from the train-stop that comes from the N-gates and ending up in the C-gates without going through security again.

The last time I went through Seattle security (end of this past November), the lines wrapped through that large hallway area. They were sending some people through the C gates and others through the N-gate security regardless of who or where you were flying.
I doubt you would get turned away, but as another mentioned here, the rules do change... and often. So don't be afraid to ask a friend Washington security guard! ------------------ "What do you mean you didn't get miles for that?!" |
JohnnyP, I believe that AS runs security for both C/D and D/N, so that would make sense. But I agree that asking is probably best to avoid unnecessary headaches.

When I was in SEA a couple of weeks ago they only allowed EXP and not Plat members to use the fast lane. Has that changed?
|
Actually, bagold, you are right, they only allow top status flyers to use the fast lies. I am sorry I missed that earlier, but I am unfamiliar with the AA program.

The last 4 times I have needed to clear secutity the Platinum AA card worked for me. Also, I am in SIN now and the Platinum card for AA at the C gates was no problem for me and my 2 companions to get through with UA boarding passes.
Also, UA 897 LAX-NRT was really empty in C Class, is this common for shortly after Christmas? C was full NRT-SIN. Good times in C though http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |

I doubt anyone will have any trouble with that. |
Using this trick saved me from missing my UA flight just over a week ago. Seems like the security lines at the C gates (especially in the evening when AA has very little activity) are much shorter than the D gates, even though you can access the D gates/train to N gates from the C concourse checkpoint.
