Den-bos/pvd

Hi, Im currently looking for flights to BOS or PVD from DEN in mid/late August. so far the flights I have found are a little too exspensive for my budget, since my family is flying, it will add up. I have found the cheapest with AirTran at 270ish. I would like to see them in the lower $200's.

I am pretty new to this, but what approach do you go to in looking for cheaper fares, I am considering booking two seperate segments/PNR's with different carriers even to get a cheaper flights (and maybe more miles =D) but I have no idea how to get started. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have flown PVD (and BOS at times) to DEN quite often on UA for about $225-$250 r/t on less than 7 days notice for my tickets.

How recently? I've been looking at flights to BOS and they seem to be about 40%-60% higher this year than they were last year.

I think AA ended some PVD flights, so maybe the supply/demand is affecting price this year.

Airfare this summer is higher overall because Airlines are increasing the fares, so you WILL pay more this summer. There is also less a chance for a sale or many good deals. I found Air Tran for $289 from 8/16 to 8/23 and United for $299 for 8/19 to 8/26. That's not too bad of a price. I know it's a lot of money, especially for a family. But waiting for a sale that probably won't happen will only probably make you pay more. Take the $300 price and hit the skys.

It may be blaspheme to some on here, but Southwest & Jetblue appear to have flights on the 19th/26th for about $250 R/T. Southwest to PVD while Jetblue nonstop to BOS.

They don't show up on the normal travel sites - Orbitz, Travelocity, Kayak, etc, so you have to go to their sites.

I have noticed the prices have gone up too. I wouldnt mind taking jetblue/southwest, but miles sound so tempting.

So there are no other routes I could possibly look at? Even on two seperate carriers/itineraries? It almost seems more fun...

If not, I guess I will just have to go with one of these options.

I thought Jetblue does list their flights with Kayak? Or do they withhold some of their inventory? I know Southwest isn't on Kayak..

Since this doesn't have anything to do with frequent flyer programs, I'll close it here.
