Help! Which Airline to select for Goldpoints rewards?

I've been collecting goldpoints rewards and have quite a few now. So my question now is what airline to redeem my points for travel? I usually leave from YYZ (Toronto). The places I want to go most often are SFO (San Francisco) and Hong Kong. United has a great sale for Asia only requiring 40k miles but this is only good until Jan 31 and has a bunch of blackout dates. I usually have flown Air Canada to SFO but the lineups checkin line ups have sucked big time lately, taking over an hour each time! Is United any better? Also, which airlines usually have decent mileage sales? Air canada almost NEVER has anything. Most airlines seem to go 25k for USA/Canada flights but the Asia ones are 75k for AC and only 60k for United and 50k for Northwest. Also, Air Canada has the worst blackout dates for Asia I've seen. Anyone know about the other airlines below for my trips to Asia/SFO? Finally, are there any airlines below that let me become a Gold/Platinum member just with points? I've been wanting to transfer 1 million points to AA but they don't seem to fly out of YYZ... Thanks a million!!!

Airlines I can use:
Air Canada, American, America West, Asiana, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Continental, Delta, EL AL, Gulf Air, Icelandair, Latin Pass, Mexicana, Midwest Express, Northwest, Qualiflyer, TWA, United, US Airways

I think you should go with UA, since SFO is a big hub for UA and they have both an Asia and US network.
