I joined this program since I already had a few cards with them and I've accumulated points on my card. I'm not that happy with their travel service Is there a way to transfer these points to another mileage plan???

MBNA comes up about every third page in the 'Other Cards' forum.

Like most cards of it's ilk, their gift and travel offerings suck; my strategy is to take their CA$H awards, and buy my own tickets ~ on the card for NEW points, of course ^

For whatever it may be worth, I'd be very leery of MBNA. Please bear in mind this is just one person's experience with them, but a few years back I was out of work and got behind with them and several other creditors. (I've long since recovered and caught up on all of them). Most of my creditors, thankfully, were understanding and accomodating. MBNA was the lone exception.

Lets just say MBNA was particularly nasty and showed absolutely no mercy. Especially when it came to piling on fees, using agressive collection methods etc.

I'm not here to bash MBNA or go into all the gory details, but I'd certainly be reluctant to get into a business relationship with any company that seeks to cash in on customers' misfortunes. My orignal debt was relatively small, but nearly tripled by the time they got finished with their tactics....and I got stuck for every penny they loaded on. (Read the fine print about binding arbitration and waiving your right to sue them).

Based on my experience, I wouldn't expect much help from MBNA. Indeed, their whole "bonus" program appears to be planned to keep card holders from every getting much in the way of redemption.

I would recommend that if you want travel rewards that you get a credit card that earns real miles or points in a program such as Starwood, an airline, etc. instead of MBNA or any of these phony miles programs. There are a number of drawbacks. If you ever want to cancel the card, you have to worry about redeeming all of you points or losing them. You cannot combine the points with anything else. You cannot transfer them.
