Continental Pilots' 911 Presentation

A CO pilot has put together a remarkable presentation (tribute) to the events and heroes of 9-11. If you are interested in it you can find it at

http://www.calpilot.com/worldtrade.swf

If you have broadband it is great if not please be very patient while it loads.

the most intelligent thing i can come up with to say is 'wow'. check this out, and i think your response will be similar.

mdtony Nov 8, 2001 7:32 pm

Very nicely done. If this guy ever loses his job as a pilot, he's got a hell of a career as a web designer.

katz Nov 8, 2001 7:41 pm

thank you for the link.

PremEx Nov 8, 2001 8:00 pm

Speechless.

paradocs Nov 8, 2001 8:34 pm

Thank you! The site is so moving!

RSSrsvp Nov 8, 2001 8:37 pm

They say that a picture says a thousand words. This should be televised.

JS Nov 8, 2001 8:55 pm

I'm speechless.

MRLIMO Nov 8, 2001 9:14 pm

Incredible!

J.D., you are my hero and I will miss you terribly. We will avenge your senseless murder, so rest in peace friend-- we'll take care of it.

Marvelous.

Breathtaking.

NJDavid Nov 9, 2001 6:36 am

Wow. I thought I was done crying. I guess the pain will always be there. Amazing effort.

R&R Nov 9, 2001 7:42 am

A wonderful tribute! Brings tears to my eyes!

Everyone in the World should experience this presentation of events!

All the TV reports put together and replayed hundreds of times do not have the impact of one viewing of this fine work!

This must be presented on every Network on a daily basis. Hopefully it will be brought to the attention of the various Media.

Thank you.

Agreed.

I think they should also play it for the Navy, Air Force and Marine aviators before they go on their bombing runs.

Dan;

Thanks a million. Just to further emphasis that every face has a family, J.D. was the proverbial teddy-bear of a guy. A Harley-riding cowboy-saint with a great sense of humor and a generous heart and a taste for P.B.R.. He left behind a son- who I wouldn't be surprised to see follow in his footsteps. Tragically, he got engaged to a woman (a former actress from a very popular 70's show,) not too long ago.

I was there the night they met (I think) several years ago at a NY bar that we both frequented (very frequented) Hogs & Heifers. They had fallen out of touch for a couple of years but re-established about a year ago or so, from what I understand. He called her 9/11 as he climbed the stairs in the Trade Center to tell her he was fine and not to worry.

J.D. was supposed to be off on 9/11 but had taken overtime and was one of the earlier responding police officers-- he was a Port Authority P.O. and WTC was a Port Authority thing.

On-duty or off, this man would put his life on the line for you. That's what he lived to do.

What an outrageous, senseless thing it is that he is no longer with us. My anger and sadness know no depths.

James Leahy I didn't know as well, except to say he was a hell of a cop and a wonderful guy. He leaves a wife and three children. I am the president of his Memorial fund and if anyone is inclined, here are the details.

James Leahy Family Fund
attn: Det. Mike Singer
6th Police Precinct
233 West 10th Street
New York, N.Y. 10014

If you are in the NYC area, the precinct sells a really nice memorial t-shirt with his shield number on it for $10-- which goes to the family as well. Mention my name, Jon Posner, if you see Det. Singer.

I wear mine proudly.

There is a special place in he*l for the a****les that did this. I don't think I ever understood the depth of emotion my parent's generation felt about WWII until this happened.

I have no idea how I will ever be able to forgive the countries that sponsored this despicable carnage, even many years from now when the people who caused it have been wiped from the earth.

dgolds Nov 9, 2001 6:30 pm

Unbelievable. A beautiful tribute. Thanks for the link, I will pass it on.

runningshoes Nov 9, 2001 6:53 pm

Mikefly - thank you.

blackjack-21 Nov 10, 2001 2:14 am

Moving, touching, unbelievable--what can I say? Tears were shed--again.

Thanks, Steve. Sending the website to all on my email lists

God Bless America.

Carioca Canuck Nov 10, 2001 12:56 pm

Wow.......it's all I could say as I looked for a Kleenex to wipe my eyes.

I sent it to my e-mail list and people have been mailing me back with the same sentiments.

R&R Nov 11, 2001 3:03 am

Everyday, that I view it, I have the same tearful sad response. It is a masterpiece and not to be overlooked.

squeakr Nov 11, 2001 8:27 pm

I don't think a contintetal pilot did this..I have since seen a link to the presentation on a German web site, andmr. squeakr saw it on another site. Any one know who did the presentaion? I would really like him/her to know how important it was to see it...

eastwest Nov 16, 2001 12:34 am

I just went back and watched this again. I thought it deserved a bump in case some FT'ers missed it. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

BearX220 Nov 16, 2001 10:53 am

Squeakr, there's a contact e-mail at the end of the presentation: [email protected].

It's a wonderful, sobering piece of work. It will take awhile for me to pull myself together again...

Thank you. I have seen many tributes in the past few weeks, but this one is the most moving of any. When I thought the tears were done, I realize the pain will always be there for us, somewhere, deep down. . .And I believe that's as it must be. . .We will not forget.

SAN man Dec 2, 2001 9:32 pm

It still brings tears and chills.

jeffreyt Dec 2, 2001 9:53 pm

This really is moving.

Many of these pictures were taken by Reuters Photographers and will appear in a book to be published next week called "September 11: A Testimony". See
September 11: A testimony
.

I know some of the photographers for the book and got an advance look at the book. Its incredibly moving, but spends more time on the response and the people vs. the explosions, etc. Amazon even has an area below the cover that you can click for "more pictures".

We should never forget these people.

dhammer53 Dec 4, 2001 7:48 am

Thanks for bringing this back up top.
