Tom Thumb Food stores allow Reward Card members to earn a mile for every dollar spent on groceries.

In all seriousness? Go to Safeway. If you have a Safeway card, that is linked to UAL's program. And then, charge the purchase to a credit card that gets you miles.

If you have an AMEX either linked to an airline, or hotel you will get miles. The DL card is doing double miles for ALL purchases right now.

And, if a regular AMEX, you can also earn miles and transfer to airline of your choice.

"In all seriousness"... I was asking the question more in gest. And, yes, if you buy $250-worth of turkey-day-stuff at Safeway stores (including Von's, Dominicks), you get a whopping 125 miles. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Happy Turkey Day to all!
Randall's grocery (now part of the Safeway chain) in Houston - gives CO OnePass miles. One mile per two dollars spent. Use your affinity card and get even more! Amex is giving double MEMB MILES for grocery store and gas station charges.
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT THANKSGIVING!

Hurry to Farmer Jack's stores, mostly in Michigan, because their NW World Perks participation ends Nov. 30, 2001! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Okay then, to maximize miles, fly to Houston and buy the turkey there. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

skofarrell Nov 21, 2001 8:20 pm

Here is to a safe and Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

eastwest Nov 21, 2001 8:33 pm

In spite of some current world events, we really all do have so much to be thankful for.

Above all else, I am thankful for heroes. For the known heroes like George W. Bush and Rudy Guliani. Also for unknown heroes. Firefighters, Police Officers, Doctors, and all the men and women in our armed forces.

I am thankful for America and every nation who loves peace, democracy and freedom. I am even more thankful to those nations and friends who stand beside us in the war against terror.

blackjack-21 Nov 21, 2001 11:00 pm

Well said, eastwest.

Happy, and a safe Thanksgiving to everyone.

bj-21.

PremEx Nov 21, 2001 11:52 pm

eastwest, I too give thanks for the men and women in our armed forces. But I'd also like to thank those civilian personnel and the other government agents who are putting themselves in harm's way for our country and the world over there.
