Buying strategy for COS

The wife and I want to attend a wedding in April in Colorado Springs (COS). We live at RDU. Right now the cheapest flights to COS and Denver(DEN) run about $300 each, which is too much. I'd like some advice on this situation.

1. Do we expect fares to go down once ski season winds down? Will I have enough time to get a flight at that point?
2. Is there some deal that I can get a companion ticket by applying for some credit card or something?
3. Any other ideas I'm missing?

I think $250 each would be more appropriate for either COS or DEN.

Can get you into/out of DEN for $210 RT -- email me directly with your dates and I'll see what I can do!

You can get a free companion certificate by getting the Visa card affiliated with United and paying the annual fee for the card (I think its around $65 for the regular card - and if you are elite with United you can get the gold card for the same annual fee).

If you have kids in college enroll them in United mileage plus college program. They will mail you some certificates, one of them is around $200 plus tax from East Coast to COS (you cannot use the cert for Denver, but COS is ok). Post a message to see if someone has that certificate which they could give to you or lend to you.
