Concorde

As I came out from doing the shopping, I looked up to see Concorde flying overhead. It's wonderful to see her back in the air again, although it looks like she now takes a different approach into LHR than she used to (as she never passed over my house before).

I was surprised to see that it had its gear lowered -- I'm about 20-25 miles out from Heathrow. Is gear-down at that distance standard practice for Concorde?

At what speed does the Concorde do its final approach? I think thats the information you need to determine if the landing gear was prematurely down or not.

Concorde's final approach speed is about twice that of most commerical jets -- around 200mph. That'd put it about ten minutes out from LHR when it passed my house, which seems a little early to me.
