Just qualified for Hilton Diamond Status. I sent off my paperwork for a comp to SPG Platinum a few minutes ago. I'll update this when I get a response.

SPG Platinum Status granted. Here is part of the email:
As you are already an elite member, Diamond with Hilton HHonors, we realize your potential patronage of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is great. As a result, we have upgraded you to the Starwood Preferred Guest Platinum Preferred Level. This is a one time only exception. In order to retain your Platinum Level membership for next year, you will need to have a minimum of twenty five eligible stays or fifty eligible room nights. This number is based upon a calendar year basis, January 1 through December 31 It looks like I have about eight months to get this done. I thought the match was supposed to last until the next calendar year but it's all good. |

Do any Hotel programs offer a status match for having Diamond status at Choice Privileges?

I was just matched to Hyatt Diamond with my spg plt status, which is good.
But the Diamond status is good only until Feb. 2009. Is this typical their offer? I am not sure if I can maintain this status as there are only less than 8 months left this year.... |
Aug 1st and after is the date I believe that they will match your status to diamond for the remaining of the year AND the following year till Feb 2010.

And also to clarify Hilton has a rolling qualifcation tier, so you have 12 months to qualify (or in this case till your status expires if you don't want to lose benefits) instead of the calendar year.

I am Marriott Lifetime Plat. Does that qualify to be matched by other chains? And, if so, do I have to stay X nights/year OR is it matched for Lifetime?
