Switching accrual from AA to --? (your recommendations?)
I am approaching achieving lifetime PLAT status on AA, with 2M miles, and am looking to begin agressively accruing points on another airline. I am most concerned, however, with making that effort, only to have the airline go out of business, or otherwise make this new block of miles worthless (or nearly so).
So, if you were just starting out, what program would you choose, given concerns about loosing miles, and once accrued, the usability of miles globally. If you're kind enough to make a recommendation, please say why... Thanks! John |

Also, if you really do want to switch, you'll have to give us more info about what type of flying you do- domestic, internationally? What's your goal? Another lifetime status, elite status, more miles?

I think the priorities in the OP are out of whack. Choose the airline first, based on travel patterns and so on. Then, its FF program is what it is. There are differences among them, but not enough to make me fly an airline that is less appropriate to my needs than another one. The FF program is a means toward an end, not the end in itself.
