got a few upgrade by just asking them incase the plane is full or maybe just a complementary upgrade....

Seems to me, it never hurts to POLITELY ask - Ask at Checkin, ask in the lounge, at the gate, at the ramp, even after boarding, I'll try sometimes to ask the head steward...

Just BE POLITE (helps to dress a little nicer, etc - LOOK like a J or C class paying customer), and let your name, face be known to the FA's etc...

One never knows about OP ups etc... :rolleyes: @:-)
