Hotel Program

I am currently a Hilton gold member and wondering if it's possible to have my level comped with another hotel program. Is the Hyatt or Starwood programs better than the Hilton.

just a personal opinion here, but you will be taking a step down with both Starwood and Hilton.

Starwood has no blackouts but thats about it but they will nickel and dime you to death, and you may get a concierge club access card but its not guarenteed, and NO breakfast

Hyatt, is great but the upgrades to suites for their top level are far and few between and forget about it for their mid level. Also they are closing Regency club rooms as fast as they can. You wouldn't qualify for this benefit anyway. No breakfast either

Stick with Hilton, its the best of the three as far as upgrades, points, bonus', breakfast and club access

I agree w/Trojan Horse, Hilton's program is the best. Some of their properties aren't as nice as some Starwood or Hyatt, but most are ok.

We got comped to Diamond with Hyatt from Hilton but it has been a source of disappointment. No upgrades if award stay. No Regency lounge in the hotel - after asking the 800 reservations who said they had one. A Customer Service guy called and left a message today because of my complaints. I will call tomorrow but I don't expect much. Four day max supposedly on Regency upgrade if you do get one.

You would likely find responses from past threads highly useful in making such an assessment.

Using the search function in the respective hotel forums would be a good start.

One particular thread which appeared in MilesBuzz was the following:

The answer to your question should not only be a function of various program benefits, but should obviously take into account your personal preferences--particularly re: what you value most.

While debates regarding program merits abound, it does essentially come down to what's important to you.

Thanks for all the info. Looks like I'll be sticking to Hilton for a while.

If you want lots of points Hilton is tops with not only giving miles and points but they have many 50,000 points promos during the year
