MCO security questionable...

I'm fairly new at business travel, but have flown to MCO at least every 3 or 4 months for vac. and/or to visit family in Orlando. On our flight home from there on 9/30 I was puzzled to see a display of items like cork screws and nail clippers that couldn't be carried on, but nobody batted an eye over my companion carrying a lg. glass bottle of wine in her backpack and nobody asked me to take a drink from a half empty Sprite bottle I was carrying.I know I would be a lot more intimidated by a lg. broken bottle then I would a pair of nail clippers, and I could have had anything in that bottle. We just went through with no questions asked.

yeah, but this isn't an MCO issue -- this is the way the FAA is setting up the rules right now. There is no explicit ban on glassware at this time.

I flew through MCO last week and am headed there again in an hour...I think they were doing just fine.

I agree that this is NOT an MCO issue. Same everywhere.

At the same time, I do not think they should do anything about this either. Let's get real. There are plenty of other things that one can use as a weapon. Stop trying to fool us with a false sense of security.

And they should allow us to carry nailclippers and corkscrews. Do you really think someone will take over a plane with these? (Sept 11 was different, we have been taught to let them do what they wanted)But not anymore.

Welcome to Flyertalk, bluehen. Shall I assume that your handle refers to the University of Delaware?
