My god... great circle map

Oh my... I was just being silly and put in all the flights I flew this year so far on the great circle website... I can't believe I flew this much? Anyone else keep records of where they have flown? I'm interested to see other people's routings this year...

I had to clean up the url a bit before I got the full route display. I note that it is almost October, and though these flights don't yet add up to 200k (197288 nm), I consider it a good start nonetheless http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Yes quiet a ride this year for you!
I never keep record but I found out how much I have flown this year just by looking back to the AA's account.

I have little over 50k miles, the misery of traveling in States. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

I don't think you can put a link up to that site.. somehow the url is just too long.. so I guess you'll have to cut and paste it... =(

68,359 miles in 2001 YTD:

http://gc.kls2.com/cgi-bin/gc?PATH=D...BI-DCA-PIT-ITH %2C+LGA-ORD-EZE-MIA-ORD-PHL%2C+LGA-ROC-LGA%2C+JFK-FRA-AMS-TXL-IAD%2C+DCA-PIT-ITH-PIT-DEN-JFK-SYR%2C+ITH-PIT-SEA-RNO-LAS-OAK-SEA-OAK-SEA-PIT-TPA-PHL-SEA-MSP-DLH-MSP-SEA-ATL-PFN-ATL- SEA&RANGE=&PATH-COLOR=red&PATH-UNITS=mi&RANGE-STYLE=best&RANGE-COLOR=navy&MAP-STYLE=

65181 miles in 2000:

http://gc.kls2.com/cgi-bin/gc?PATH=A...ATL-FLL-EWR%2C +LGA-DEN%2C+SLC-GEG-PSC-SLC-ATL-SYR-MCO-PHL-DCA-PIT-ITH-LGA-ITH%2C+SYR-ORD-DFW-ORD-SYR-YYZ-YVR-YYZ-SYR-ORD-DFW-ORD-SYR%2C+ITH-LGA-DCA-PHL-MAD-BRU-FCO-PHL-PIT-SNA&RANGE=&PATH-COLOR= red&PATH-UNITS=mi&RANGE-STYLE=best&RANGE-COLOR=navy&MAP-STYLE=

Irony: I have yet to requalify for any 2002 elite staus, although it's in the plans. My travel is too dispersed, and a few award tickets are sprinkled in there.

I may hit 100,000 in 2001, but in 2002 the numbers are going down. Now that I am not a college student, I have less time for overseas trips. But who knows...I may decide that I want to be a 1K...

Great Circle Mapper

This great circle mapper is a great tool. I've used it for years to calculate mileage, but never to this extreme! So I went ahead and did it.

Since meeting my wife in October 1999, I've travelled on 138 flights, and 121,099 raw miles (no 500 minimums in calculations) just to be with her!

I think my travelling days may be over in December when we've moved in with each other on a more permanent basis... with the exception of vacations that is.

How many miles have you travelled in your life to be with your significant other? I'm sure most of you have me beat in this department as well!

Great idea, tfung! My year hasn't been even close to as diverse as yours:

Click this

Paste in this:

I'm missing a few but what surprised me is that I haven't flown out of my namesake at all this year.

Well, lets try and work this mess out:

If UBBCode™ is enabled in a forum, you no longer need to use the [URL] code to create a hyperlink. Simply type the complete URL in either of the following manners and the hyperlink will be created automatically:

http://www.yourURL.com

www.yourURL.com
Notice that you can either use the complete http:// address or shorten it to the www domain. If the site does not begin with "www", you must use the complete "http://" address. Also, you may use https and ftp URL prefixes in auto-link mode (when UBBCode™ is ON).

You can also have true hyperlinks using the [url] code. Just use the following format:

infopop.com
The old [URL] code will still work, as detailed below. Just encase the link as shown in the following example (UBBCode™ is in red).

www.infopop.com
In the examples above, the UBBCode™ automatically generates a hyperlink to the URL that is encased. It will also ensure that the link is opened in a new window when the user clicks on it. Note that the "http://" part of the URL is completely optional. In the second example above, the URL will hypelink the text to whatever URL you provide after the equal sign. Also note that you should NOT use quotation marks inside the URL tag.

SEE IF THIS WORKS FOR TFUNG'S ROUTE!!!???

Well clearly it doesn't! Well, I tried!

chexfan Sep 27, 2001 6:41 am

Here is my 130,000+ year to date travel pattern!

Ahh!! After 15 minutes of editing the URL, it's not being able to be thrown into InfoPop.

Oh well, Mine's a boring map with red lines over the US, one to AUS, and two to Europe.

JS Sep 27, 2001 6:13 pm

How about this method:

1) go to Great Circle Mapper

2) copy this and paste into the window "paths":

PWM-MHT-BOS-PVD-BDL-HVN-ISP-JFK-LGA-HPN-ALB-ITH-BUF-PIT-EWR-PHL-BWI-DCA-IAD-CRW-LYH-DAN-ROA-RIC-ORF-PHF-GSO-CLT-CAE-HHH-ATL-HSV-BHM-MGM-MOB-TLH-TPA-MCO-PBI-FLL-MIA-RSW-EYW-JAN-GTR- MEI-MSY-AEX-LFT-BTR-MLU-SHV-BPT-HOU-EFD-IAH-CLL-GGG-TYR-DAL-DFW-ILE-AUS-SAT-HRL-LBB-AMA-MAF-ELP-ABQ-COS-DEN-OKC-TUL-XNA-LIT-MEM-TYS-SDF-LEX-CVG-CLE-CMH-TOL-DTW-DET-IND-SBN-MDW-CGX- ORD-MKE-MSN-MSP-MOT-OMA-MCI-STL-BIL-BOI-SEA-PDX-EUG-SFO-OAK-SJC-SMF-FAT-MRY-SBA-BUR-LAX-PSP-ONT-SNA-SAN-TUS-PHX-LAS-RNO-SLC

3) click "display map"

Much easier than a long link! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Hey, that's not a map! It's one of those kid travel puzzles or maybe it's from Family Circus: "Billy runs an errand". http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Musta been a long trip...
