I am thinking that this could be an opportunity for air travel to go retro - back to a time when lines were a whole lot shorter and service a whole lot better. I mean, we've all complained at some time about delays at some / every step of our journey. Imagine a world with a lot fewer airlines (due to bargain-basement mergers / collapses etc). Imagine fares that are 2-5 tomes more expensive than they are now.. a lot less flying done, a lot less airlines needed, a lot less lines at the counter, in the sky, at the gate, less stress on ATC, a lot less air / ozone pollution... get the picture? I know this will be seen as heresy by some on this board, because we thrive on flying, flying, flying - paid or reward.. (And let me say I have every sympathy for anyone whose job may be at risk in coming months..) but maybe, just maybe we've been living in an unsustainable era, in terms of air travel?
What do you think?
