Comps one more time...
I was wondering if an airline will check the mileage statement from AA (for example)before comping me to their status level? I was thinking if the other airline is allowed to give information about a member to third parties. Tim |
What usually happens, depending on the airline, is that they will ask for a hardcopy of your FF account activity, and a copy of you status card. As discussed a million times here, there isn't an airline that will comp higher then mid-tier.

Actually, my read of lots of posts suggests:
- Continental sometimes WILL comp highest level - Regular channels at other airlines won't get highest level comp'd, but really lucrative passengers can get comp'd if they reach someone in authority, usually via sales division. Airlines won't help each other steal their best customers -- so unlikely that they'll verify the veracity of your statement/card. And as an aside, I just realized that this reply is my post #200. Well on my way to 250 -- bring back FT Evangelist!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif [This message has been edited by gleff (edited 08-12-2001).] |

Originally posted by anandrag: 50K/month is pretty much impossible Consultants on foreign assignments will temporarily log bazillions of miles very quickly. A friend of mine in application implementation for a large software company went from UA-base to UA-1k in about 60 days with 3 times/month trips between IAD and SIN. He started with ZERO mileage with UA this year because his prior consulting trips used DL and AA (better flight connections to S America). With one more overseas posting before year end (he's currently on asignment with my company in Canada), he might actually hit top tier in THREE programs (he's already top tier with DL and UA). It's rather sickening when you meet someone who has SO MANY flights and status miles, that they can "spread 'em around" without impacting their status with any program! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif [This message has been edited by Fermat (edited 09-02-2001).] |
As some of the older FTs know..my status were almost all comped.
I got Gold with CO because of the 5 RT thing. Got comped on AA and DL. But this year...to those FTs surprise, i may actually really earn Plat with AA! Of all these programs....UA is the most reluctant to comp me...which I really don't care...cus i don't like to fly them anyway... ------------------ Albert |
A twist on the question. I've already earned CO Plat for next year (i.e. until 2/28/03). Because I suspect I'll be flying considerably less in 2002 (but still at least once a month), I'm already looking at my options for elite in 2003. My question is, if I make a status comp request to another airline right before my CO Plat is set to expire, will the other airline likely grant me mid-tier status until 2/28/04? Anyone have any experience w/ this? Thx.

So let me see if I get this straight,
I am taking the AA Plat challenge and will be AA Plat by the end of Nov. I can use that to get bumped up on other Frequent Flyer programs? Namely DL and CO - those are the two most likely. Frank ------------------ TANSTASFL - but if you work it right, FF miles comes pretty close. |
