Dreadfully sorry. I slipped and wrote personal business when I meant to write official business.

Went back and edited my prior post to indicate offical. Again, my error. Sorry for the slip. My agency allows us to use miles to upgrade to FC, and this is for official business only, of course.

You can upgrade to FC from coach on a two-class aircraft, but only from coach to business or business to FC on a three-class aircraft.

That was not exactly the html that I read last year, but close enough for government work. Send me an e-mail with your mailing address and they are out Monday AM!

It does seem pretty definitive in the FTR that upgrade to FC is not permitted, even using the rationale of a two class aircraft.

Tell ya what ... forget the coupons. But if we ever meet up at a FT event, you can buy me a beer. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

The post from the spring of '00 was the straight legal stuff; it distinctly segregated between two/three class aircraft, and did permit upgrades to FC on two-class aircraft.

Wish that I could find that link, but, to no avail.

I thought that most airlines did NOT allow you to open a second FF account. So, how can you get the gov. miles if you are not supposed to "mix" them in with your personal miles. Am I incorrect about the rule on more than one FF account? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/confused.gif

No, you are not confused. Most, if not all FF programs specifically provide that an individual may only hold ONE account, which would preclude legitimately establishing two accounts. However, some colleagues of mine have skirted this rule by using a home address for one account and a business address for the other, thus forcing the computers into believing that they are two accounts for two people.

Perhaps someone should charge some of the beaurocrats with fraud, waste, and abuse violations. For my money, the government must have something better to do. What sum is spent dreaming up all of these rules? And monitoring compliance? And when the "crooks" are finally caught?

Instead of leaving well enough alone and trying to make government service more palatable, they just rub salt in the wound.

If someone starts an initiative to allow government employees to keep miles that cost our government nothing, I will be the first to vocally and publicly support it.

I would rather have my government work to provide gun-free schools, drug-free schools, and high academic standards. In other words, do something that matters.

Frequent flyer mile violators don't even register on my list of concerns.

Whew, I almost began to rant.

This shows the POWER of the written word!

It appears, that a bill to let Gov Employees keep the FF miles has been submitted and expected to pass in Congress!

About time. Interesting that it follows THIS string, so closely!
