The Cat is Back, FINALLY!

After a delay of a day because of the "STORM
OF THE CENTURY" in the Midwest, The cat is back on FlyerTalk (Hold off those hisses!)

I have a lot to write about, mostly travel related, covering my trip to Dallas and environs and the nightmarish efforts to return home to my very angry cats.

These Topics will be posted on their appropriate boards or if no board, BUZZ:

United
American
National Car Rental
Embassy Suites
Comfort Inns and Suites
Fairfield By Marriott
DFW airport
Holiday Inns
Blue Bell Ice Cream and Shiner Beer (OMNI topics)

It's very nice to be "HOME" again! CATMAN

Welcome back Catman!....it sounds like we all
had our own travel travails to get through during the holidays. Hopefully the travel
gnomes will go away until this time next year, or perhaps not be so prevalent....

Welcome back my friend. Glad to see you made it despite all the obstacles. Cats have a way of doing that.

Welcome Back Catman!

Welcome back, Catman. Sally and I drove to the Atlanta area this year (we sort of alternate) and had terrible weather in NC on January 2. Then, because the forecast was for even more on the 3d, we got up real early (Sally doesn't take to that very well) on day 2 of our trip. The weather that day was great, and when we got home our neighbor said they had been (in the DC area) scared for nothing.

I'm thinking U-A and other carriers panicked because most forecasters said the "storm of the century" would whip across the East Coast, thus leaving many a stranded traveler.

With Chicago and other MidWest cities -- understandable.

PHIL: I'm glad you and Sally got to where you were going OK. From experience on NYC highways and even sidewalks any bit of ice can make them dangerous (I have the bruise marks from falling on the sidewalks to prove it.) CATMAN

Air travel in the DC area was a mess, even though the weather here never really got bad. The problem was equipment. If a plane can't leave Chicago for DC, it can't leave DC for anyplace else, and there were a lot of planes that couldn't leave Chicago for anywhere.
