Happy Birthday America

July 4, 2001, the 225th year of our independence and a great day for friends, fireworks, Sousa, Copeland, and a moment to reflect on how fortunate we are to enjoy the blessings of liberty

...and let's remember just how much the founding fathers gave up and risked to establish what we take for granted today.

How many of us would risk everything to break away from an unjust government?

If you haven't already done so, read up on Jefferson, Adams, Franklin, etc. You will be amazed and grateful!

Makes you think twice about demonizing rebel groups rising up against oppression in modern times. Some are good causes, some are just bandits and thugs. One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter.

Whenever I travel abroad, especially when I'm gone for several weeks, I'm always so happy to return to this great country. We certainly aren't perfect, but we definitely have it a lot better than most people in this world and we should be thankful for what we do have. We may not be everything to everyone, but we sure come close. Happy Birthday, America!

Congratulations! On gaining independence from A German King and Swiss-German mercenaries and their "Unfair rule".

We in Grande Bretagne so named by the Norman conquerors to distinguish us from Bretagne or Brittany in France wish you well.

As someone who is part Welsh with a dash of Viking and probably a bit of Norman mixed in with a dash or Roman stock for good measure I love the way travel broadens the mind as well as the blood stock.

How do the Native Americans celebrate? Just curious that's all.

I still think Bob Newhart's rendition of Tobacco is wonderful! Can't you just imagine the scene.

I don't imagine many of the native Americans celebrate the 4th much as it could symbolize the end of their independence.

I love Bob Newhart but hadn't heard of his tobacco routine, would love to see it!
