Overstock.com and miles
Just an FYI,
I placed an order on Overstock.com through the AA shopping portal. I paid using gift certificates from Gift Certificates.com also through the AA shopping portal. Overstock credits the gift certificates as "coupons" , so it does not appear that I will get the credit for the full $300 ( supposed to be 2 miles per dollar) through Overstock. I will still get the 2 miles per dollar from Giftcertificates.com, plus the AA visa 1 mile per dollar. Not worth complaining about, and work is buying the stuff anyway. Has anyone had similar experiences with other retailers through the shopping portals using gift certificates?? Which ones work well? |
mypoints.com gives something like 10 points per $ with overstock. They can be converted in Hilton points directly. Not a bad deal $1000 at overstock = 10k hitlon points.
I dont know if it would work with coupons or not. |

If the point is to spend $1000 at Overstock, then getting something on top of that isn't the worst thing. If points are the goal, though, then just make a donation. Mike |
of course only a moron would spend $1000 just to get 10k hilton points.

If your goal is AA miles then it definitely makes more sense to use the AA portal than mypoints/hilton for overstock.
$1000 through AA at 2 miles per $ = 2000 AA miles $1000 through hilton at 10 points per $ = 10,000 mypoints = 10,000 hilton points = 1500 AA miles. Of course overstock is partnered with most of the online malls (see my website comparison table for most of them) so if your goal is one of the other airlines or hotels etc then one of the others may be best.
