I'm back on the road and need some airline help
I have been transfered to Maui and will be on the road often and I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on which airline I should be loyal with to get elite the fastest. I was Plat Delta for 4 years and remember I got it from building segments. Do they still do that. I heard American does something like that? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to FT.
Depends. First pick the airline that flies most often when and where you want to go. Then go to its forum on FT and search for challenges. try a challenge for fast status. Flying from Hawaii, my guess is that your average trip will entail a lot of miles unless you are just island hopping. So getting miles vs. segments ought not be a major issue. If you don't find a good challenge program, call the airline and ask it to make you an offer. Good luck. |

In addition to signing with the "to the mainland" airline you will use most, do sign up with Hawaiian Airlines. They have two very worthwhile programs, its credit card, and its local shopping program. You can read about both on the appropriate pages of my website below.

Welcome to FT, hawaiiroaddog ^ You were sure transferred to a hellhole ;)
AA does give status for segments and miles, whatever comes first. AA also has a Gold and Platinum Challenge. If you are flying a lot early on, I would recommend a challenge (as you have 90 days to complete them). |
Thanks
Thanks to those of you who have replyed. A challenge does seem like a good option for me since I will be mainlanding it a few more times before I get settled. One bit of advice. Never go coach out of Chicago if you can avoid it. Long brutal flight and the second movie had no sound. I have to get to the front of the plane, there is no other option! :D
