How long does it generally take for your Safeway miles to show up at United? I haven't seen anything on my statement, and it's been 3 months since the first award showed up on my Safeway receipt....

I tested it, no luck here http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/redface.gif . $5 purchase + $50 casback = $5 extra dollars towards United miles.
Now when I re-read the first posting I see what is happening: "You have accumulated $150 toward your next United Mileage Plus award!" does not mean today, it is how far you toward the next 125 miles. Most likely there no loophole, MilageAddict just misread it, he just had $50 there before and added $100.
Or am I missing something?

I think I got this one right...Before I went to Safeway, my last receipt said I had $48 toward the next award. I went to Safeway a second time, purchased $33 worth of groceries and $50 cash back. This second receipt now said you have $131 towards your next award. Perhaps it is just a fluke here in the Pacific Northwest?

I have reached a total of 18x125 awards with Safeway over the last year or so that the promo has been active. 16 of these have posted and based on their track record, I would expect the remaining one and future earnings to post without intervention as well. 2-3 months is a typical posting time and sometimes they have posted in a batch of 2 or 3.

Hmmm. Which would work better -- using the Safeway promotion and then using a mileage credit card? Or doing the cash advance?

Let's say that I buy $100 worth of groceries. That's worth 150 miles to me in the long run.

Now, if I buy $100 worth of groceries, and take a cash advance for $50, then it's worth 125 miles to me, since it's .5 miles per dollar spent, correct?

So, I come out ahead using a credit card, right?

Or am I using fuzzy math?
