If you live in the right state, Hilton will let you merge your goat's account with your own :D
<ducking> |
Unfortunately you can't use UA to bring a pet into the UK. And unfortunately the 2 UA res clerks I spoke with didn't know that. But I called the UK gov DEFRA and was told that. Also, a pet into the UK has to be checked as manifested cargo - you can't just bring 'em along as luggage. Again, UA didn't know that. Their res clerks were ready to book me a flight and reserve space for my dog.
But since they were the only airline offering to check the pet as luggage for flights into the UK, I felt a little further investigation was necessary. The price is like $154 if checked luggage, but around $2k for cargo. |
Have you HERD

Hotels Accepting Large Dogs Reach Niche Market
Hotels that accept large dogs are reaching their niche market and are edging out their competitors that have strict weight limits. According to a recent surveys, nearly 48% of travelers with pets travel with pets over 31 pounds. 34% of those surveyed travel with dogs over 50 pounds. Hotels are quickly realizing this untapped market and are adjusting weight limits to coincide with the growing market for large dog accommodations. BigDogsWelcome.com, a new Web site makes it easy for hotels to display their large dog friendliness. Travelers can not only view which hotels accept dogs, but they can instantly see if a hotel will accept a larger dog. Along with detailed information about the pet policies and weight restrictions, BigDogsWelcome.com also displays photos and lists amenities. Steve Davis, BigDogsWelcome.com spokesperson states, '"Anyone with a big dog knows how hard it is to find a pet friendly place to stay that doesn't just allow your dog, but actually welcomes your dog. We're trying to simplify things for travelers.' BigDogsWelcome.com lists dog-friendly accommodations that accept large dogs. The company Web site located at www.bigdogswelcome.com takes the hassle out of planning a trip with a large dog. |
