fare code INVOL

what does this mean if the agent entered "INVOL" (involuntary re-route) on your fare code?

kehaulina Mar 29, 2001 8:59 pm

it means that for what ever reason your were rerouted,, invol,,, and if for some reason your trip is canceled,, or have to be delayed you may be able to exchange the ticket without paying the change fee penalties of $100.00

Due to mechanical, I was rerouted the other day from UA to NW.

My UA-issued NW ticket was issued in INVOL fare basis.

Now today, I checked my NW WorldPerks account, and although it lists my flights, no mileage credit has been posted yet...In the 'Reason not credited' area, it says something to the degree of 'Pending Internal Review' or something like that.

Any time in the past that I've been bumped, I've always received credit on both the carrier I was moved to as well as my originally scheduled carrier (usually UA and after filling out the form, sending in my ticket receipt along with fingerprints and blood sample)

Has something changed? I assume (and hope) that the mileage credit for these NW flights will appear in a few days. Anyone else have experience with being moved to NW and not getting the miles?

NWA is just too strict. You probably won't get mileage credit.

I agree.. better to use Continental number on NWA flights... I prefer CO's service!

Not true.
Whenever you fly nw and it is not on your original itinerary as issued you will receive the 'Pending Internal Review' message and miles & bonuses will post several days later.

Pending Internal Review means just that, they're having someone look at it with real eyeballs to see what needs to be credited because the computer didn't do it automatically.

I had about 15k miles Pending for the last two weeks as I waited for some kenya Airways flights to post. They showed up yesterday, I'm hoping that's not how long it will usually take! (though I was happy to learn about a 500 mile bonus for each segment flown on Kenya Air!)

After 2 weeks, the full flight mileage credits posted on NW...Actually the same day my (mailed-in request w/ticket copy) United miles posted...

Ahh, nothing like getting bumped and earning miles on 2 separate carriers. Thank you UA and NW!

Actually, I disagree on using the CO number for reroute miles on NW. I've had it happen twice this year, and of four flights I was rerouted on (along with my wife), she got ALL her miles using her NW number, and I got only 2 out of 4 of my miles using my CO number. *AND* when you contact CO, since you have only your NW boarding pass and (in my case) a DL ticket, CO won't give you the miles. I'm a little disgusted at CO.

If anybody knows some magic angel to call and get the miles credited, let me know. Calls to the general number (twice) have yielded nada.

I've only seen UA issue a ticket with INVOL if they rebook you on another carrier and it is in a different class of service than originally ticketed.

I've had it happen three times and in all instances I was travelling on a coach fare with upgrades confirmed check-in. The flights were subsequently cancelled and they rebooked me on another carrier not in coach but in F.

I believe they only do this for their top level elites and not every agent will do it. Most agents will simply return your upgrade certificates and endorse the original coach tickets over to the accepting carrier.

But when the agent do decide to let you keep your upgrade, new tickets must be issued since you can't endorse the original tickets up to a higher class of service. These new tickets will bear INVOL for the fare code.

I guess they do it this way to prevent you from trying to get a refund for F from the accepting carrier.
